The Reliability OutReach Seminar and Workshop is intended to reach out to those seeking insight into the issues and solutions of Reliability in Electronics and Photonics. Indeed some of the retrospective views will be remarkably insightful of the challenges facing those for whom "Failure was and is not an Option". Another insight is the extraordinary reliability achieved by integrated circuits which is an essential attribute of this cornerstone of the explosive penetration of technology into our lives and which we grew to expect as the norm. However, that expectation is now being dented and there is the warning that losing this essential capability due to ignorance and unwarranted shortcuts is placing a hazard time bomb into networks. The educational lecture on Six Sigma describes the embedding of professional culture of designing, making and delivering excellent products. MEMS reliability, software quality assurance and system prognostics are intended to complete the picture.

The insights will be provided at the Seminar sessions on the first day by speakers who are leading professionals in their respective fields. Attendees can seek elaboration of specific topics in the Breakout discussion Workshop sessions to be held on the second day. All of this will be located at the University of Greenwich at the former Royal Naval College which is a World Heritage Site and where the Prime Meridian is centred.
